FAQ:

  1. Is my Mini/BMW compatible with the box?
The answer is simple. If the Car is equipped with the option 6CP Preparation Apple Carplay only then it is compatible.
  2. How do I connect?
Follow the steps above. Make sure all phones are removed and the box is powered over a 12v usb adapter. Make sure any other after market device is disconnected (EG: MMI)
  3. The box is getting hot! What now?
It is normal for the box to get warm or even a bit hot. Just make sure it is not in direct sunlight.
  4. I have a small screen infotainment system, is it compatible?
    See question 1.
  5. I connected the box but it is not Full Screen?
The infotainment system is probably below 2021-3 istep and needs a software update for Full Screen to work. You can contact us for this service.
  6. Will my original system still work?
Think it as an Iphone connecting to Apple CarPlay. Whatever worked with that works exactly the same. So controlling with the Idrive controller, touchscreen, all options pointing to Apple CarPlay will go to the Box. Any albumarts etc will work fine. Occasionally when using Android Auto over the box and playing music over AA it might show as “Unknown artist” or something similar because it is interfacing over an interface. But this might be fixed in the future.
  7. How to software update the box?
If any update is released it will be posted here on this product page.
  8. I connected the box to the car’s USB socket to power it but I am unable to connect?
The reason for this is that the car thinks the box is an USB stick and tries to access it. This will cause the box not to connect to the cars Carplay interface. It is better for the box to be connected to a 12v to USB socket power supply. We do sell them also.
  9. Everything is working fine only it seems that my mic is not working or when making calls the other side does not hear me.
The box requires an update for the mic to work again. Please install the latest version following the steps below. On some very recent phones it might be that the mic is not being forwarded from the phone to the car. The update seems to fix this.

Software update steps
DO NOT INSTALL THE UPDATE IF EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE!!! The update below was released to address the mic issue on some Android Phones

1. Download the file here
2. Extract the contents, an update.zip file to the root folder of a fat32 formatted micro sd card.  (do not extract the update.zip file)
3. Insert the sd card in the hibox while it is connected to the car, so you can control it.
4. When inserted the box might directly pup up that there is an update, if not, see if you can find the update button in the menu. The upgrade should be pretty straightforward. Select “wipe data and format flash”.
